Suunto t6 accurately records how your body performs during exercise, enabling later analysis and planning with Suunto Training Manager. By measuring your exercise load and training effect and relating it to your personal fitness level, Suunto t6 tells you if the session improved your condition or not.

Suunto t6 has been designed for everyone who exercises with the goal of improving their fitness and who wants to know how effective their exercise is. Whatever your current fitness level, by using Suunto t6 and its training software you can plan a program that maximizes the effectiveness of your training and enables you to meet your goals.

Suunto t6 provides laboratory accurate information on seven key body parameters including EPOC*. By understanding how your body responds to exercise, you can better plan your own personal training program and, most importantly, monitor its effectiveness.

The technical features of the wristop computer, combined with the PC interface developed for more graphical representation of your performance, and our Internet Community, where you can share information with other like-minded athletes from around the world, make Suunto t6 the device of choice for every true athlete and fitness enthusiast.

  • Suunto t6 measures the time interval between two heartbeats in milliseconds. Suunto Training Manager software uses this data to analyze the effect of your training and to calculate several other body parameters such as EPOC, respiratory rate and energy expenditure.

    By relating this information to your current fitness level and factors such as your age, gender, weight and height the software also calculates the intensity and duration of training needed to improve your condition.

    During your training, Suunto t6 helps you keep on track by offering control functions such as heart rate limits, real time average heart rate and customizable stopwatch display. These, together with impressive logbook functions, make Suunto t6 the perfect performance monitor for training at all levels.

    Suunto Training Manager
    Suunto Training Manager allows you to accurately tailor your training program so that it fits precisely with your personal goals. Whether you want to improve your endurance capabilities, maintain your current condition or burn fat, the software will help you succeed.

    The software tells you the heart rate and duration needed to reach your individual goals. In real time, while training, Suunto t6 alerts you if you stray outside your target heart rate or, with a speed/distance sensor accessory, speed range. It also displays your lap times, interval times and altitude.

    The pre-training planning, the monitoring during training and the post-training analysis all add up to make Suunto t6 an indispensable tool for those who want to get the most out of their exercise.

    Training Effect (TE)
    The 2008 Suunto T6 now features ’live’ training effect data. Training Effect shows the degree to which an individual workout improves your aerobic fitness. More powerful than conventional zone training features, Training Effect tells you the quantifiable results of your workout.

    Why Training Effect is important
    If your workouts are too easy, your aerobic condition won’t improve. Likewise, if your workouts are too difficult, you run the risk of overtraining and hindering improvement. Between those extremes, it’s difficult to gauge the effectiveness of a workout on gut-feeling alone.

    Training Effect takes the guesswork out of working out, giving you real-time and post-exercise information about the effectiveness of your workout.

    During exercise, Training Effect shows the real-time effectiveness of your workout. After exercise, Training Effect displays the final degree to which a workout improved your condition.

    How Training Effect works
    Training Effect is based on *EPOC measurements during exercise, combined with information about your current fitness level and exercise history. *EPOC (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption) is a scientifically sound measure of training load.

    Training Effect uses a straightforward, one-to-five scale. Here’s what it means:

    1.0 - 1.9Training Effect: minorEnhances recovery. Can develop endurance base with sessions longer than one hour. Does not improve maximum performance.
    2.0 -2.9Training Effect: maintenanceMaintains aerobic fitness. Helps build foundation for harder training in the future. Does little to improve maximum performance.
    3.0 - 3.9Training Effect: improvementImproves aerobic fitness if repeated 2 to 4 times weekly. No special recovery requirements.
    4.0 - 4.9Training Effect: rapid improvementRapidly improves aerobic fitness if repeated 1 to 2 times weekly. Augment with a few recovery sessions (TE 1.0 - 2.0).
    5.0 - upTraining Effect: overreaching Dramatic increase in aerobic fitness if combined with substantial recovery.

    Training with TE targets
    The Training Effect target is a simple yet powerful tool for achieving your workout goal. Suppose you want to go on a run that maintains your current level of aerobic fitness. Based on information in the user manual, you should set your Suunto to a TE target of 2.5. As your run progresses, the Suunto shows the remaining time at your current level of excursion for achieving your target. What’s more, as your excursion level changes during the run, the Suunto recalculates accordingly.
